Somatic Movement and Embodiment Classes ONLINE
This ONLINE ZOOM class will include embodiment practices based in Body-Mind Centering® Embodied Anatomy & Yoga.
How do we filter and digest the information coming into our nervous systems? How do we stay connected to our body while being engaged with the world around us without being overwhelmed, stuck and polarized? How do we stay receptive, calm and creative so we can respond in the ways we need to for the collective?
Somatic Movement goes beyond form. Embodying your anatomy explores consciousness and movement - it brings consciousness to what you may not be aware of.
It is not about doing the right “pose”. It is not about moving in any “right” way.
Classes are for ALL bodies, genders, sexualities, and for folks like myself who live with chronic illness and want some ease from pain. I teach from a body-loving approach, with lived experience of how fucking hard it is to live in a body with chronic illness and pain!
You are encouraged to follow your body’s own intuitive movement and rest when you need to rest. You have full agency in class to do what you need in order to take care of your body. In fact, that’s part of the lesson - feeling your inner body and moving from there.
“The way Kelly teaches this feels like it should be a universal “how to live in a human body” per-requisite. As someone taking this class 35 years in to living in this body, I learned incredible things about it I had never known before. Kelly’s teaching felt accessible and adjustable to the pain and mobility challenges I live with and inclusive and expansive of my non-binary trans body”
“Kelly’s easy way of being creates a safe and supportive environment for internal investigation. With her gentle guidance, I am able to connect with a deep sense of Self, and emerge feeling grounded and joyful.”
“Kelly is a skilled and gentle facilitator. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge about anatomy plus lived experience with embodiment practices. They encourage the utmost respect for your own embodied experience and how that can vary day to day. I highly recommend treating yourself to this self-care activity!”
“I recognize the importance of somatic movement and embodiment yet do not seem to make time for it in my daily life. Having a class where I can experience what my body prefers, tuning in to its need to sustain movements or move differently, to slow way down or even to just stop regardless of the class being led, was profound. I have spent so much of my adult life listening to the To Do list in my head. Now I’m learning to listen to my body wisdom.”
