A Yoga Posture can simply be a mechanical action, an exercise. Is that what you want? If you desire more, than begin not by diligently forcing yourself into the forms, but let the forms emerge from you

Drop-in is available for any class, or sign up to all 4 classes.

Classes will be recorded and available for viewing for 1 week. Closed Captions are available for live and class recordings.

Somatic Explorations will be about developing curiosity, inquiry, self-agency and creative expression. These classes are not about form - it is about sensing and feeling your body and moving from there. We focus on embodied anatomy, embryology and early developmental movement. You are encouraged to follow your body’s own intuitive movement and rest when you need to rest. This class is a space for you to journey into your body and truly honor what you need.

In the spirit of understanding that our bodies are not separate from the land and other beings, we will call in our ancestors, animal friends, guides and other supports for this online group practice.

I wish for these classes to be accessible for all bodies, ages, genders and sexualities. Classes are also for other folks, like myself, who live with chronic pain. Most of all, I teach from a body-loving approach!

During Class:

  • We will mainly be on the floor with some level changes. Please find a space for this class where you can easily move your limbs.

  • Closed Captions are available.

  • We will begin the class with embodiment practices sometimes in standing, sometimes on the floor. Therefore, please make sure a pillow or blanket is handy for you in case you need it.

  • You may have your camera on or off - totally up to you and your comfort!

  • Please modulate any of the practices for your body, your comfort and your pleasure. You never need to follow me exactly - this class is for your own self-care and embodiment and less about learning "form" in movement.

  • I will have my camera on and I will do my best to make sure you can see me. My hope is that with my instruction you can follow along with my words without having to look at the screen so much.

  • Classes will be recorded. You can turn your camera off and stay muted if you wish to not be on camera.

Class structure (loosely):

  • You can choose to join in on camera or not at the beginning of class. I'll talk a bit about the class structure, we do some embodiment practices which is usually anatomy based, then we do some movement sequences. At the end of the class anyone may offer feedback, thoughts or sharing with the group, but there is no pressure to do this. You can also choose to sign off right after class.

  • My intention for these classes is that it will give you an opportunity to move your body with awareness, curiosity, creativity and friendliness to yourself.

  • Classes will have some focus on movement for chronic pain.

The way Kelly teaches this feels like it should be a universal “how to live in a human body” per-requisite. As someone taking this class 35 years in to living in this body, I learned incredible things about it I had never known before. Kelly’s teaching felt accessible and adjustable to the pain and mobility challenges I live with and inclusive and expansive of my non-binary trans body
— K.D.
Kelly’s easy way of being creates a safe and supportive environment for internal investigation. With her gentle guidance, I am able to connect with a deep sense of Self, and emerge feeling grounded and joyful.
— Kiley R.
Kelly is a skilled and gentle facilitator. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge about anatomy plus lived experience with embodiment practices. They encourage the utmost respect for your own embodied experience and how that can vary day to day. I highly recommend treating yourself to this self-care activity!
— H.F.
I recognize the importance of somatic movement and embodiment yet do not seem to make time for it in my daily life. Having a class where I can experience what my body prefers, tuning in to its need to sustain movements or move differently, to slow way down or even to just stop regardless of the class being led, was profound. I have spent so much of my adult life listening to the To Do list in my head. Now I’m learning to listen to my body wisdom.
